THE YANKEES

As a died-in-the-pinstriped-wool Yankee fan, I have to tip the Spyglass to the Red Sox.  Curt Schilling was masterful, and the Bosox simply outplayed the Yankees.  The “bad” calls were correct.  Any team which strands 36 or more runners, as the Yankees have done, is not playing at championship level.  If the Yankees lose Game 7, the Boss should trade Sierra and Clark for a couple of bags of ground-out.  Clark worked a 3-2 count without twitching his shoulder and as usual struck out.  Sierra struck out on a ball in the dirt.  If a 14-year old showed as little enthusiasm or desire as Clark, we would put her on the bench.  Olerud on crutches would do better.  Sending Sierra against Schilling?  Useless.  Would be like Admiral Nimitz sending Admiral Sprague to fight the epic battle of Midway with rowboats.
