New Update - 10/30 11:24 a.m.
| The City
of Escondido has approved our permits to play this weekend.
The current air quality in Escondido is 60 and expected to
improve greatly over the next day as the west shore winds
continue to blow the smoke out of the area. The fires pose no
danger to the area and we are not taking any hotel space
needed for the displaced families or the firefighters. The
National Mental Health Organization suggests that providing
activities for youth may actually help them take their mind
off all the stress of the past week. We have considered every
option and all safety and health issues and will continue to
monitor the air quality as we near the tournament. We are very
sympathetic to those who lost loved ones or possessions. We
will have donation jars at the fields for those of you who
wish to donate money to the local red Cross for the victims.
We have had to make the decision to go ahead by this morning
to accommodate the hotels, the college coaches who are flying
out and the teams traveling. There is simply no other window
of opportunity for the showcase to be moved and to allow the
players to be recruited. |
