SUN DEVILS REMAIN IN FIRST

Arizona State Remains at No.1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) announced today that Arizona State is the No. 1 team in the Nation according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Collegiate Poll. ASU (48-3) received 16 first-place votes to hold the top spot for the second consecutive week.

 

   Arizona State is coming off a historical weekend with its first sweep, 2-0 and 9-8, over then No. 7 Arizona in over 20 years. The Sun Devils currently lead the Pac-10 Conference with only one conference loss. No. 2 Florida (51-2) and No. 3 Alabama (44-3) received two-first place votes a piece, both going undefeated this past week.

 

New to the poll this week are No. 24 UMass (30-11) and No. 25 Nevada (31-14) after receiving votes last week. UMass is currently 17-0 in A-10 conference play and is currently on a 20-game win streak. Nevada jumped into the poll after sweeping then No. 15 Hawaii causing them to fall to No. 19 in this weeks poll.

 

The Pac-10 Conference boasts four teams in the top ten followed by the SEC who has three teams in the top ten. The Big 12 Conference has two teams while the Big Ten’s Michigan rounds out the top ten.
