THE GAMES
Eight countries have sent teams to the 1st World University Softball Championship. (Russia and Uganda withdrew; visa problems). The softball championship is one of 28 World University championships (all sports) sponsored by the Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU). The teams are different from the Junior World games in China, although several of the USA team played in Nanjing. The FISU games are for players 19-28 who are enrolled in a college or university.
